Two Wedding Events For The Weekend

Feeling like a busy weekend of bridal duties? We have two events you can check out (three, if you’re planning on attending the Blush Bridal Sample Sale).

For dress hunting, head out to Ivory Bridal in Langley and peruse the Alyne Bridal Trunk Show, which takes place on Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm and 11 am to 3 pm, respectively. Continue reading

Preowned Wedding Dress Roundup 02/22/12

If you don’t love great deals quite enough to do the whole sample sale thing this weekend at Blush Bridal, we’ve got some less-stress discount gowns in this week’s preowned wedding dress roundup.

1. Mermaid Gown, $750 OBO/original price not listed

You can’t go wrong with the mermaid shape (it flatters pretty much every body type), and this dress adds in raw silk, which photographs beautifully, and on-trend pop of color in the pink sash (that you can remove if you’re more traditional).

2. Lazaro 3866, $2,500/originally $5,500

Perfect if you’re aiming for over-the-top vintage romance on your big day. Not the cheapest used wedding dress, but still a bargain when you consider that the bride only wore it for a couple hours at the reception and never altered it. Continue reading

Annual Sample Sale at Blush Bridal This Weekend

Don your Nikes and boxing gloves, ladies, it’s time for Blush Bridal’s annual sample sale. Doors are at 10 am both days (although you’ll definitely want to go on Saturday for the best selection) and it’s first come first serve. You can, however, enter to win early bird entry by liking the Blush Bridal Facebook page, which will then keep you in the know on other upcoming sales and events (worth it in our book, even if you don’t end up getting access before the crowds).

In the meantime, you can check out New York Magazine’s article on what to do at a bridal sample sales.

Today, to celebrate Valentine’s Day, we’re giving you the goods—which is to say, we’re pointing you in the direction of some cool February 14th-inspired goodies that wouldn’t be out of place at a wedding and aren’t totally over the top.

Now go out there and get your love on (after all, isn’t that what being engaged is all about?).

2. Wedding Conversation Hearts from Elegant Weddings Plus, $7.63

3. Heart Straw DIY, free Continue reading

Discount On Amsale Bridesmaid Dresses At Blush Bridal

If you’ve settled on Amsale for your bridesmaid dresses, you’ll be happy to hear that Blush Bridal in West Vancouver is offering 15 % off orders of Amsale bridesmaid dresses during the month of February. Haven’t picked your bridesmaid dresses yet? It’s worth taking a peek at the new Amsale collection (especially with a discount available). We’re pretty much swooning over their long chiffon options.

Preowned Wedding Dress Roundup 02/02/12

Since we know it can be tricky to find your dream wedding dress on a more down-to-earth budget, we’re going to be periodically rounding up great used wedding dresses for sale in Vancouver. We might even find the  exact dress you were wanting—at a fraction of the price.

Here are today’s finds:

1. Jim Hjelm Couture, price negotiable/originally $3,164

This sweet and simple Jim Hjelm is brand new since the bride has switched to a winter wedding and wants something warmer, and—bonus—it comes with a sash and matching veil. You’ll still save money over buying new, but don’t expect a huge price drop because it’s never been worn and comes with accessories. Continue reading

Our Five Favorites For The Wedding Glove Trend

One of the wedding accessory trends we’re most excited about this year is gloves. They’ve never exactly disappeared from the bridal fashion scene, but it’s been a long time since we’ve seen brides playing them up, and we think they add the perfect extra “something” to big day attire—not to mention kind of being perfect for photos.

Martha Stewart Weddings picked the SIBO Designs pair pictured above ($55 US) as their choice, but you can click ahead to see our five favorites. Continue reading

Say Yes To The Style And Strut Show

Do you watch Say Yes To The Dress and wish you could be a Kleinfeld bride? We can’t offer you a ticket to New York, but we can point you in the direction of this year’s Style & Strut show at the Sutton Place Hotel, where you’ll be able to check out a plethora of pretty wedding dresses from designers like Oscar De La Renta, Monique Lhuillier and Jim Hjelm, and, more importantly, get a little dress advice from the Say Yes To The Dress guru himself, the say-it-like-he-sees-it Randy Fenoli.

Style & Strut has lured Fenoli in to talk about his top tips and offer up suggestions on what to look for when you’re shopping for you gown (while filling everyone in on his own life story).

You’ll have to pony up an extra $55 to hear Fenoli’s advice, but it could be well worth it if his wise words help you find what you’re looking for. And, when you’re not living out your Say Yes To The Dress fantasies, you can sip on sparkling wine and hit up the brand new Style & Strut Show Style Lounge to test out lash extensions and other big-day beauty treatments.

You can get tickets here.

Vintage Style Dress for Less

If you’re on the hunt for a wedding dress that won’t blow your entire wedding day budget but is every bit as unique as you are, you have to get a little more creative. Bridal shops will be dominated with satin sheaths, thrift shops can be wildly hit or miss (we’re always envious of those brides who find the perfect frock for under $50), and custom dresses—although a great option—sometimes just don’t fit the time line. It’s All in the Accessories

Today’s post comes to you via one of our favorite wedding blogs (even if it is geared at California brides) from one of our favorite Lower Mainland wedding photographers. We’re talking about the great Green Wedding Shoes and the uber-talented Jamie Delaine.

For the shoot, Jamie outfitted her model in a vintage dress that she snagged for $30 and then styled with different accessories to create three very different (but equally beautiful) looks.

We  love the idea of opting for a simple dress and making it your own with other elements like the shoes, jewelry and hair accessories, and, as Jamie has demonstrated, it can be a seriously cost effective way to approach your bridal attire. Continue reading
