Say Yes To The Style And Strut Show

Do you watch Say Yes To The Dress and wish you could be a Kleinfeld bride? We can’t offer you a ticket to New York, but we can point you in the direction of this year’s Style & Strut show at the Sutton Place Hotel, where you’ll be able to check out a plethora of pretty wedding dresses from designers like Oscar De La Renta, Monique Lhuillier and Jim Hjelm, and, more importantly, get a little dress advice from the Say Yes To The Dress guru himself, the say-it-like-he-sees-it Randy Fenoli.

Style & Strut has lured Fenoli in to talk about his top tips and offer up suggestions on what to look for when you’re shopping for you gown (while filling everyone in on his own life story).

You’ll have to pony up an extra $55 to hear Fenoli’s advice, but it could be well worth it if his wise words help you find what you’re looking for. And, when you’re not living out your Say Yes To The Dress fantasies, you can sip on sparkling wine and hit up the brand new Style & Strut Show Style Lounge to test out lash extensions and other big-day beauty treatments.

You can get tickets here.

Valley Girl

Maybe you’re a Vancouver bride who lives in the heart of Vancouver or maybe you’re a Vancouver bride who’s a little farther out from the city proper, either way getting married in the “country side” (Burnaby, Langley and beyond) has its advantages. There are one-of-a-kind venues, jaw-dropping outdoor locations, and less competition for booking your desired wedding date.

To get a feel for whether the outer Fraser Valley might be a good fit for your wedding (or to lock down some venues for an almost-out-of-town wedding), check out the Fraser Valley Wedding Festival this Sunday. It’s running from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Coast Hotel & Convention Center (pictured above). Best of all, admission is free! Continue reading

Winning the Name Game

What’s in a name? A ton of paperwork for one thing. Just when you’ve made it through the stresses of organizing and executing every detail of your big day and think you’ve made it to wedded bliss, you’re hit with the challenge of having to add your new name to every important identification you’ve got. It’s enough to make a girl want to keep the name she came into this world with.

If you’re eager to take your new hubby’s name, however, there’s a service that can make the whole process a lot easier. It’s called I’m a Mrs. and if your friends have been asking about wedding shower gifts, a gift certificate from I’m a Mrs. will do wonders for your stress levels. Continue reading

Get Inspired at Indie I Do

There’s plenty of info to be garnered at wedding fairs, but if you’re the kind of bride who practically gags when they get around too much tulle and tradition, you’re probably not going to dig that scene at some of Vancouver’s more well known events. Don’t despair, though, you can still get ideas (and have fun with your bridesmaids) at Indie I Do, an alternative wedding show at Heritage Hall taking place January 23rd.

Now in its second year, Indie I Do features exhibitors that are local, inventive and unusual for the bride who wants something more unique (or more personal). Continue reading
