Hello, sweet readers. Are you as excited about the long weekend as we are? We can’t help feeling like this is the last chance to do all the summery things that have slipped through the cracks, and this means we’ll have to fit lots of s’mores, swims, and stargazing into the weekend. We’re sure some of you, however, will be filling the weekend with your weddings, and in that case, congratulations! For the rest of you brides-to-be, we’ll see you back here next week to once again fill you in on all things wedding related.

Here are your (long weekend edition) lovely links:

+ Although this isn’t a Canadian wedding, the beauty and the budget ($5,000) earned it a spot with today’s links

+ There’s a new spot in town to buy your honeymoon attire

+ A very touching wedding

+ An envelope liner that could trump most invitations

Intense Tents

Tell someone you’re planning on honeymooning in a tent and they’re likely to make a sympathetic face and stick a little extra cash in your wedding card. If the tent you’re referring to, however, is one of the tenthouse suites at theĀ Rockwater Secret CoveĀ Resort, you’re the one who’s going to end up feeling sorry for them…while you lounge in your hydro-therapy tub or lay in bed and stare out at the ocean.

In case the words hydro-therapy tub didn’t tip you off, this is a far cry from camping (and even from many of the “glamping” offerings that are popular now). It’s more like a boutique hotel room that’s friendlier with mother nature than most, and you’ll get to start your lifetime of wedded bliss blending little luxuries and the great outdoors seamlessly. Think heated slate floors, rain forest showers and glowing fireplaces alongside the orange bark of arbutus trees and deep blue waters rolling up on the rocky coastline. Okay, we confess, we’re kind of smitten. Continue reading

You’ve almost made it to the weekend, dear readers, and we’re so excited to be there alongside you…even if the sun still refuses to give us the goods. If the forecast proves wrong, we’ve got picnic baskets, beach blankets and patios at the ready, but if those weather predictions come true, we’re planning on pouring over all the recently posted Vancouver weddings popping up on the web (unlike summer, wedding season shows up right on time every year).

Here are the links we’re loving from around the web this week:

+ The arOka VINTAGE market is worth making some time on Saturday for

+ This dress has all the dreamy romantic elements of a Monique Lhuillier (for much less)

+ A taste of life on the other side of the wedding photographer lens

+ Pack this for your honeymoon Continue reading

Vancouver Wedding and Honeymoon Spring Show

If you’re not planning to travel out to Fort Langley for the Fraser Valley Wedding Swap this Sunday, there’s another option closer to the downtown core that might interest you.

It’s the Vancouver Wedding & Honeymoon Spring Show, and it’s a worthwhile wedding show if you’re a bride who’s equally interested in planning the post-nuptial vacation.

Where most wedding shows only feature vendors focused on the big day, the bi-annual Vancouver Wedding & Honeymoon Shows brings in a whole host of travel-related vendors who can help you decide where to honeymoon (and even get you a better rate on the trip). Continue reading

Beauty And The Bride: Five Must-Haves For Your Honeymoon

There’s no question that you’ve thought about exactly how you want to look on your wedding day (glowing and gorgeous, right?), but we’re guessing you haven’t put much thought into how you want to look for the honeymoon that follows. Obviously you want to still be stunning for your new husband, but you also want to relax and enjoy your well-earned wedding vacation…without worrying about messing up your makeup.

Today we’ve got five genius products that are well worth packing in your already-stuffed honeymoon bags. They’ll keep you gorgeous whatever the weather or activity and require very little work.

1. Tocca Beauty Giulietta Solid Fragrance, $33.00 CAD

Even new brides can get a little funky smelling after several hours on a plane and a few hours in seriously humid weather, and, out of respect for our fellow travelers, we’re not ones to shower ourselves in a mist of our favorite sprays. Instead, this floral solid fragrance—inspired by romantic vacations in Corsica—is delicate enough that it won’t overpower sensitive noses and will keep you smelling sweet all day (and night).
