Well, lovely readers, we’re almost two weeks into the new year. How are you doing on your resolutions? While we haven’t followed through on everything—some nights just need a glass of wine—we’ve been keeping up with most of our goals. Like, not getting sucked down the rabbit hole of Pinterest (unless we’re finding really great stuff) and not beating ourselves up if we don’t make it to every bridal show. Speaking of which, are you making plans to attend the It’s My Wedding show this weekend? It’s the Fraser Valley’s chance to shine, and well worth checking out.

Enjoy your lovely links!

+ Everything you need to know about It’s My Wedding

+ A breathtaking seaside wedding

+ Couture gowns from our own city

+ Vancouver Island’s biggest bridal show

Priscilla + Travis

Vancouver Wedding Photographer

When we first saw Priscilla and Travis’ beautiful wedding shot by wedding photographer Tomasz Wagner, we were astounded at the amount of true, touching emotion that was evident in their big day (and how well it was captured by Wagner).

It’s emotion so powerful that it’s contagious, and while we didn’t experience the details first hand—details like a custom-designed Jason Matlo dress and Priscilla’s brother singing her down the aisle—we can’t help but feel the depth of the day just by looking at the photographs.

New Year's wedding

Don’t you find the start of a new year to be exciting? It’s so full of possibility and the chance at great positive changes. Changes like, for many of you, being engaged. While many people will tell you not to get too caught up in bridal things, we’d like to tell you not to hold back too much either. Planning a wedding is rarely ever as exciting as it is the first few months, and you should enjoy. Bask in it. It’s (hopefully) a once in a lifetime opportunity, and you have every right to enjoy it and go a little overboard.

Now on to this week’s lovely links:

+ There’s a wedding show for Okanagan brides this weekend…

+ …And city outskirt dwellers who don’t want to drive downtown

+ A sweet way to ask your bridesmaids the big question

+ Easy homemade facial recipes from the pros at Blanche Macdonald

Lovely Links For December 7th

We can’t help feel sympathetic to all the brides-to-be who are currently planning weddings while managing the busyness of the holidays. It’s hard enough figuring out a wedding when you aren’t making time for Christmas parties, shopping, family time and tradition.

That’s why we’d like to encourage you, if it’s at all possible, to ease up on designing your dream day until the all this extra activity has passed. For some brides it’s not possible (we’re looking at you, ladies who will tie the knot before January 2nd) and to those brides we say: There’s always next year. But, for all your spring brides, let this stuff simmer on the back burner, and enjoy a breather that has nothing to do with nuptials.

Regardless of your own situation, how about taking a break with this week’s lovely links?

+ An unexpected accessory for bridesmaids

+ Further proof we’re a city full of sports fans

+ Pantone has picked the 2013 color of the year!

+ There’s a great (12 day!) giveaway on the Epic Events blog right now

Lovely Links For November 30th

You guys, this is the last day of November. The last day before December, in all its holiday glory, descends upon us. And while we are—as you’ve noticed—very excited about all that festive fun, do you know what’s even more exciting? With the holidays comes many, many engagements. We can practically feel the excitement and sense the wedding magazines flying off the shelves as new brides-to-be start planning their big days and spend their mornings staring distractedly at their new ring-finger bling. You can’t hear us yet, soon-to-be-engaged gals, but we can’t wait to have you here and share all things Vancouver wedding with you!

Here are this week’s lovely links:

+ Just plain amazing

+ Take note, winter brides

+ Make a wedding dream board and you could score three bridesmaid dresses (we call that win, win)

+ Let this be a reminder to bring chalk for your wedding day photos

Lovely Links For November 16th

This long weekend-shortened week is drawing to a close, and we’re ready for a weekend of maybe-too-soon festive fun. I mean, if Starbucks has already started using the holiday cups, doesn’t that kind of give us a free pass to get ahead of ourselves too? Anyone else want to join us for some cookie baking and spiked cider?

Some lovely links that—we promise—aren’t holiday themed:

+ We can’t wait for the full post on this gorgeous wedding

+ Ideas for an elegantly rustic wedding brunch

+ A stunner of a Victoria wedding

+ Planning a spring wedding? You might want to include these in your decor

Lovely Links For November 9th

One of the great things about planning a wedding is that you get to spend a lot of your time day dreaming, and that’s an especially enviable element when it’s November and the weather is what it’s been lately (yuck!). We’ve been alternating between fantasizing about all the fun stuff of summer wedding and conjuring up mental images of the perfect cozy winter weddings. It’s almost kept us from noticing the gray ugliness going on outside…almost. Hope you’re having a similar experience as you work on your own weddings!

To help you further escape the dreariness, here are this week’s lovely links:

+ There is something so dreamy about this engagement shoot

+ For realistic over-the-top inspiration

+ The most creative take on “something blue” we’ve seen

+ This is why we love DIY

Some Early Winter Wedding Inspiration

Photo by Sachin Khona via WedLuxe

Whatever you’re doing, you need to stop for a moment and go gaze at this wintery wedding shoot on the WedLuxe website. We know it’s a little early to be thinking of all things festive and chilly, but this inspiration is pretty enough to have us positively excited about the darkest month of the year (plus it features some of our very favorite vendors!).
